Andy R Cole BSc (Hons), MBPR, RIPTA

Regional Agronomist - Midlands, South Wales and Southern England

Andy first joined STRI as a trainee agronomist in September 1986 on graduating from Leeds University. Andy set up the first Regional base for STRI in the Midlands during 1991.

During the last twenty years Andy has also lectured in Greenkeeping and Sportsturf Management at the Warwickshire College, which included the first Degree course in Equine studies. Additional experience was gained as a consultant for both Grass Science and PSD Agronomy before returning to STRI in 2007.

Currently most of Andy’s time is taken up advising golf clubs, throughout the Midlands and South Wales, venturing into Surrey and Kent in the South East and Devon and Cornwall in the South West. R&A Qualifying venues are also included within Andy’s portfolio. Consultancy has not been wholly confined to golf, with advice also given to corporate race courses including Northern Racing and Arena Leisure alongside Premiership and League Football Clubs and Local Authorities.

Andy is a founder member of RIPTA and a Member of the BASIS Professional Register. He is a regular speaker for the English Golf Union and BIGGA and a contributor to many industry publications. Andy is a member of Copt Heath Golf Club, with a current playing handicap of 13.
