Alistair Beggs joined STRI following graduation in 1988. He was promoted to Northern Area Manager in 2000. In his time at STRI Alistair has advised on many different types of sports turf throughout the world. He gained warm season experience in Asia, and has advised golf clubs throughout Western and Southern Europe in cool and transition zone climates.

Currently much of Alistair’s time is spent undertaking consultancy work for The Championship Committee of The R&A for whom STRI are Official Agronomists. In this capacity he has gained a wealth of knowledge on the management and upkeep of many different types of golf course.

Alistair is a Graduate Member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects, a member of the Register of Independent Turfgrass Agronomists and a member of the BASIS professional register.  He is a regular contributor to industry publications and is popular presenter at turf conferences.  He is a keen golfer and plays to a handicap of 4 at Royal Liverpool and Royal St David’s Golf Clubs.
