FACTS Training Courses

STRI offers a dedicated course for the FACTS Turf qualification. This 5 day course created by BASIS, for the sports and amenity sectors, is rapidly becoming an essential requirement for anyone who advises on fertilisers and their application.

The FACTS Turf qualification has been designed for anyone providing advice on fertiliser application to sports and amentiy turf.  Qualification is obtained by evidence of understanding of plant nutrition and fertilser types,environmental issues and legislation.

BASIS administer and certify this national qualification. They provide holders with a certificate of competence and membership of the BASIS Professional Register and FACTS Annual Scheme.

It is a four day modular course covering all aspects and issues concerned with the fertilser application to turf. Course modules include turf nutrition, fertiliser nutrients, application rates, legislation and environmental considerations with an examination on the fifth and final day.


Module Breakdown:

Module 1 (one day) - The Soil and Playing Surface in relation to Turfgrass Nutrition
Module 2 (one day) - Nature and properties of Fertilisers and Liming materials
Module 3 (one day) - Plant Nutrients and Choice of Fertiliser
Module 4 (half day) - Transport, Storage and Application
Module 5 (half day) - Good Practice and Environmental Protection
Examination Friday
